Robert Downey Jr. has praised Margot Robbie for her acting work in the film "Barbie." During a conversation with fellow Screen Actors Guild Award nominees Willem Dafoe and Sterling K. Brown, Downey Jr. commended Robbie for her outstanding performance during America Ferrera's monologue in the film.
He specifically highlighted how well she portrayed active listening in the scene and acknowledged that she had to trust the director's vision. Downey Jr. also discussed the challenges of acting when other performers have more prominent roles in a scene. Robbie has been nominated for an Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role at the SAG Awards for her portrayal of the title character in "Barbie.

However, she did not receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. This has caused some controversy, along with the absence of a Best Director nomination for Greta Gerwig. Robbie herself responded to the Oscar nominations, stating that she feels blessed and proud of the impact the film has made. The 30th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be streamed live on Netflix on February 24th.
