Shaquille O'Neal found himself in a bit of hot water with his former Heat teammates, Udonis Haslem and Dwyane Wade. The two players didn't hesitate to call him out on a broken promise. You see, Shaq had gone above and beyond to gift cars to his ex-teammates, but he failed to do the same for the guys he won his fourth championship ring with. Now that all three players are retired, they aren't letting Shaq off the hook that easily.
It all started when Shaq made the mistake of inviting Udonis Haslem onto The Big Podcast, not knowing that his former teammate had something to say. Haslem saw this as the perfect opportunity to bring up the broken promise and put Shaq on the spot.
"Remember what you told me and Dwyane, if we win, what you were going to do?" Haslem asked him. Shaq, feeling a little fearful, replied, "I said I'd get you a... what?"
With the stage set, Haslem didn't hesitate to spill the beans. "The man told me and Dwyane if we win our first championship, he said, 'If we win this title, I'mma buy y'all Bentleys,'" Haslem confessed to Adam Lefkoe. "But the man ain't bought us Bentleys. We were motivated as hell, but Dwyane and I went ahead and bought our own Bentleys.
.. We believed, we were young, we didn't know no damn better. He said, 'What? Bentley? S*** let's go.'"
Shaq found himself on the backfoot as the Bentley debacle played out in front of him. However, the situation got even worse when Adam Lefkoe, a pot-stirrer if there ever was one, decided to ask Dwyane Wade on Instagram to verify the claim. Without missing a beat, Wade responded on Instagram Stories, "And we're still waiting."
When confronted by Udonis Haslem, Shaq tried to save face by claiming that he did send the Bentley but lost Haslem's address. However, he went on to say that it was all just a misunderstanding.
Shaq had been a three-time champion when he arrived in Miami, and he may have brought some of the Lakers' winning customs with him.
But let's not forget that Shaq has also been very generous with some of his other teammates. When he briefly played alongside LeBron James in Cleveland, he gifted the young King James a Rolls Royce Phantom worth $400,000 for his birthday. Now, you can imagine how Haslem and Wade must have felt when they heard about that. And more recently, Shaq gifted a $1 million custom Rolls Royce to rapper Gawne, who collaborated with him on their holiday release, "Chaos."
