Emilia Clarke recently opened up about the impact of the two aneurysms she suffered in 2011 and 2013. In an interview with BBC One's Sunday Morning, the Game of Thrones star revealed that she's missing "quite a bit" of her brain as a result of these traumatic experiences.
Despite this, she expressed gratitude for still being able to speak and live a normal life. "The amount of my brain that is no longer usable is remarkable, considering I can still speak and function normally," Emilia shared. "I'm in the really small minority of people who can survive something like this."
She went on to explain the effects of strokes, stating that any part of the brain that doesn't receive blood for even a second is gone. However, the blood finds alternate routes to circulate, leaving behind the missing parts.
Emilia's first aneurysm occurred shortly after finishing the first season of Game of Thrones, which resulted in a stroke and subarachnoid hemorrhage. She underwent brain surgery and experienced aphasia, a condition that caused her to forget her own name.
Despite the challenges she faced, she has not only persevered but also used her platform to help others. Her journey serves as a reminder that beauty goes beyond appearances and that the moments of happiness and connection are what truly make life meaningful.
