Jon Snow’s Happy Ending Ignored 2 Game Of Thrones Plot Holes

The final season of Game of Thrones was filled with controversial moments, and one aspect that raised many questions was the fate of Jon Snow. Throughout the series, Jon served as a member of the Night's Watch, defending the Wall against the Wildlings and the White Walkers. However, after joining forces with the Wildlings to fight the White Walkers, Jon found himself in a difficult position. He swore loyalty to Daenerys, but when she burned King's Landing, Jon was forced to kill her. As punishment, he was sent back to the Night's Watch, but the finale showed him leading the Wildlings beyond the Wall.

Jon's ending created several plot holes. First of all, the decision to send him back to the Night's Watch seemed unnecessary. The Night's Watch had become redundant, as the Wildlings were no longer considered a threat and the White Walkers had been defeated. It would have made more sense for Jon to help rebuild King's Landing or face another fitting punishment. Additionally, the political dynamics of Westeros after season 8 were muddied by Grey Worm's influence. It was unclear why a foreign commander like Grey Worm had such authority in determining Jon's fate, especially considering Jon's rightful claim to the Iron Throne.

The return of the Wildlings beyond the Wall also raised questions. With the White Walkers gone, there didn't seem to be a logical reason for the Wildlings to dwell in such an inhospitable environment. However, from an emotional standpoint, it made sense for Jon to join them. As a bastard who never truly belonged in the Stark family or with the Night's Watch, Jon finally found acceptance among the Wildlings.

While the ending of Game of Thrones left many plot holes, there is hope for clarification in the upcoming spinoff series focusing on Jon Snow. However, for the spinoff to be successful, it will need to provide a harsher punishment for Jon and explore the complexities of his life beyond the Wall.

Simply portraying him as content in his new role would not be enough to justify a continuation of his story.

Interestingly, the books by George R.R. Martin may provide a more satisfying resolution to Jon's story. With the show surpassing the books, Martin's upcoming novels have the opportunity to address the plot holes left by the TV series. Jon's fate will likely differ in the books, with his return to the Wall being a choice rather than a punishment. The context provided by the books will hopefully clear up the frustrations caused by the show's conclusion.

In conclusion, the end of Jon Snow's story in Game of Thrones left behind significant plot holes.

His punishment of returning to the Night's Watch seemed unnecessary, and the influence of Grey Worm and the return of the Wildlings raised further questions. The upcoming spinoff series and the future novels by George R.R. Martin have the chance to address these issues and provide a more satisfying resolution for Jon's character.
