Margot Robbie, the actress and producer of the highly successful film Barbie, is currently enjoying the fruits of her labor. The movie has surpassed the billion-dollar mark and received critical acclaim, earning her a Best Picture nomination at the Oscars. Additionally, she was nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes this year. Not only is Barbie the highest-grossing film of 2023, but Robbie has also starred in several other future classics.
However, despite her own success in the industry, Robbie recently admitted that she has not caught up on some films that are already considered classics.
In a previous interview while promoting Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, she revealed that she had never seen Star Wars. This confession surprised many considering her status as a prominent actress
Robbie shot to fame with her role in The Wolf of Wall Street alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, with whom she reunited on Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. During an MTV News interview with DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, they were asked which classic films they hadn't watched. While DiCaprio mentioned The Sound of Music and Pitt admitted to not watching Gone with the Wind, Robbie chose Star Wars.
She explained that she hasn't watched the franchise to see how long she can go without infuriating people.
Robbie further admitted on Jimmy Kimmel Live that she had yet to see any of the Star Wars films, despite the release of her Golden Globe-nominated film Bombshell coinciding with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. This decision has reportedly frustrated her husband, who is a Star Wars fan. Robbie revealed that her understanding of the Star Wars lore is limited to sketches and knowing who Luke Skywalker's father is.
In addition to not watching Star Wars, Robbie also shared that during the filming of The Wolf of Wall Street, DiCaprio bullied her for not having seen classic American films.
He would frequently question her about not watching movies like Citizen Kane. However, she promised to watch them at some point.
Overall, Margot Robbie's success in the film industry is undeniable, even though she may have missed out on some of the most iconic movies in cinema history.
