Disney has confirmed that they are developing Pirates of the Caribbean 6, after a long hiatus since the last film. The franchise's extension was announced in 2018, but due to controversies surrounding Johnny Depp, the project was put on hold. The previous five films all featured Depp in the role of Captain Jack Sparrow, but the new film will reportedly be without him. Rumors suggest that Margot Robbie may take on the lead role instead.
However, Robbie has confirmed that Disney has stopped moving forward with the script that was written for her. In an interview with Variety, the producer of the film revealed that they are currently working on another script for Pirates of the Caribbean 6, and it seems that this one does not include Robbie or Depp.
Depp has previously stated that he has no intention of working with Disney again, following his treatment during the Amber Heard controversy. Although Depp has expressed openness to reprising his role as Jack Sparrow and working with Disney in the future, it remains uncertain what will happen in the upcoming installment of Pirates of the Caribbean.
