“Goodfellas” star is attached to play Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s nemesis in Karyn Kusama’s gritty indie drama “The Rut,” which also stars Chloe Moretz.
Kevin Caruso wrote the script, which is described as a cross between “Winter’s Bone,” “” and “The .”
Story follows a teenage girl (Moretz) who aims to win her father’s approval by surrounding herself with danger and adventure as she journeys into the wilderness alone to hunt deer.
Liotta will play Bob Nutley, a hunting-obsessed townie who serves as a rival to Morgan, who plays Moretz’s father.
will produce through his Water Bear/Aaron Magnani Prods. banner along with Martha Griffin, Kusama’s producing partner.
Moretz’s mother, Teri Moretz, and brother Trevor Moretz will exec produce via Treetop Prods.
Magnani is currently working with Caruso’s managers at Scooty Woop Entertainment to secure financing for the ICM-repped pic.
Magnani is currently developing the Mark Brewington-scripted sci-fi thriller “Sovereign Man,” as well as the female trucker pic “18 Wheel Butterfly,” written by Christian Divine.
Morgan currently toplines the Starz series “Magic City,” while “Dark Shadows” thesp Moretz just landed the title role in MGM’s “Carrie” remake.
Liotta co-stars in two highly-anticipated crime movies debuting later this year — Andrew Dominik’s Brad Pitt vehicle “Killing Them Softly” and Derek Cianfrance’s Ryan Gosling-Bradley Cooper pic “The Place Beyond the Pines.
” Thesp just wrapped another crime pic, “The Iceman,” and will soon begin filming “Better Living Through Chemistry” for Occupant Entertainment.
