Lady Gaga is set to star alongside Joaquin Phoenix in Todd Phillips’ musical crime film, Joker: Folie à Deux. Gaga will portray the iconic DC character Harley Quinn, who is the eternal love interest of the Joker. Margot Robbie previously breathed life into the character in the live-action movie Suicide Squad in 2016, a performance that garnered praise from critics and fans alike. 

Robbie continued to portray Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey and James Gunn’s 2021 film, The Suicide Squad. Robbie has expressed her support for Gaga taking on the role, stating that she believes Gaga will deliver an amazing performance.

However, she revealed that she has not discussed the role with Gaga and wants to be surprised by her portrayal when she sees the movie. 

Robbie is content with passing on the legacy of the role and is happy to see other actors taking it on. She views Harley Quinn as a character that can be carried forward by great actors, akin to characters such as Macbeth or Batman. Robbie believes that Gaga will do something incredible with the role and feels honored to have built a foundation strong enough for other actors to take on the character.

Despite her potential future appearances in the DC universe, Robbie has emphasized the idea of moving on from the iconic role of Harley Quinn.
