In a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest, John McCook, who plays Eric on the popular CBS soap, reflected on the challenges of portraying a character who is on the brink of death. He confessed that it was difficult for him to lie in bed and pretend his character was dying, as it allowed him to take a break from memorizing dialogue.

However, the hardest part for him was listening to his co-stars deliver emotional pleas to Eric, making it a struggle not to shed a tear.

When asked about how Eric's near-death experience would impact his character's evolution, McCook pondered the possibilities. He questioned whether Eric would undergo a change in personality, lose his sense of humor, become more aggressive, or even resent Ridge for allowing him to be kept alive by machines.
