Margot Robbie is not disappointed about the snub she received for the Best Actress category at the upcoming Oscars. During a recent SAG-AFTRA discussion, Robbie expressed her gratitude for the blessings in her life and acknowledged that Greta Gerwig should have been nominated for Best Director.
Despite being overlooked by the Academy, Robbie believes that it has been an incredible year for all films. Barbie, the box office hit in which Robbie portrayed Stereotypical Barbie, earned over $1.18 billion worldwide, making Gerwig the first woman ever to achieve a billion-dollar film with sole directing credit.
Barbie is nominated for eight Oscars, including America Ferrera for Best Supporting Actress and Ryan Gosling for Best Supporting Actor.
Ferrera and Gosling both stated that Robbie and Gerwig's snubs were disappointing and their work deserved recognition. Robbie revealed that the biggest reward for her was seeing the impact that Barbie had on culture and the positive reactions from the audience. She described the experience as being in the eye of the storm, unlike anything she had ever been a part of.
The 96th annual Academy Awards will air on March 10th at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
