Ryan Reynolds will still have the freedom to improvise lines in Marvel Studios' upcoming film, Deadpool 3, according to co-creator Robert Liefeld. Liefeld addressed rumors that Reynolds would be unable to improvise due to the ongoing Writer's Guild of America (WGA) strike. He assured fans that as Reynolds wears a mask while portraying Deadpool, he can ad-lib during post-production through Additional Dialogue Replacement (ADR).
This clarification came after reports suggested that Reynolds, credited as a writer in his contract, would be restricted from improvising during filming. The WGA strike, which began on May 2, aims to secure improved working conditions and pay for writers in the entertainment industry.
Deadpool 3 marks Reynolds' first appearance as Wade Wilson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will be the franchise's first R-rated film.
The movie will also feature Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine in a new version of the character. Reynolds expressed his excitement for Jackman's return, stating that the role provides the actor with something fresh and different to explore. Deadpool 3 is set to release on November 8, 2024.
