Pictures’ “Running With Scissors” is still plan A for Plan B. Golden Globe winner Ryan Murphy’s adaptation of Augusten Burroughs’ bestselling memoir is set to start production March 7 in Los Angeles.

Toplined by fellow Globe winner Annette Bening, the cast includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Brian Cox and Joseph Cross, with Evan Rachel Wood and Joseph Fiennes in negotiations to join the lineup.

TriStar had planned to make “Scissors” its first production (Daily Variety, Dec. 15), but the recent announcements surrounding Plan B principals Brad Grey, Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt called into question the future of the shingle’s projects.

Grey, Pitt, Aniston, Murphy and Plan B president Dede Gardner will produce the pic, which recounts a boy’s bizarre childhood growing up with a bipolar and monstrously selfish mother.

Cross, whose credits include “As the World Turns” and the upcoming “Strangers With Candy,” will portray the young Burroughs. It’s the first production to move through Sony’s revamped TriStar Pictures label.

Role will be Paltrow’s first in almost two years.

Murphy, who won a Globe for dramatic TV series as the creator of “Nip/Tuck,” makes his feature directing bow.

Cox is providing the voice of Aslan the Lion in “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Wood stars in “Pretty Persuasion” and “The Upside of Anger,” both of which will bow at the Sundance Film Festival. Fiennes most recently starred in “The Merchant of Venice.”

Bening won her Globe for Sony Pictures Classics’ “Being Julia.”

Upcoming releases for TriStar include Catherine Hardwicke’s skateboarding pic “Lords of Dogtown” and Roman Polanski’s “Oliver Twist.”
