John Stamos recently opened up about his initial reaction to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's decision not to join the Full House cast for Netflix's 2016 reboot, Fuller House.
On a recent episode of the And That's What You REALLY Missed podcast hosted by Glee alumni Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz, Stamos shared that he reconnected with the Olsen twins after the passing of Bob Saget, who played their on-screen father in the beloved sitcom.
Stamos mentioned that the twins had distanced themselves from the rest of the cast when they moved to New York. Although they remained in touch to some extent, it was Saget who played a pivotal role in keeping the cast together after the original show ended in 1995.
When Fuller House was in the works, Mary-Kate and Ashley initially expressed their reluctance to participate, which made Stamos upset at first.
However, the twins reached out and explained their reasons for not returning. Stamos recalled their conversation, saying, "They said, 'We loved our childhood. We loved being with you. We miss Bob.'" This statement helped mend the rift between Stamos and the Olsen twins, and they reestablished their close bond.
In fact, the siblings even paid a visit to Stamos at his home, bringing him a frozen pork chop and sage. Stamos expressed his gratitude, jokingly adding, "I don't know why, but thank you?"
