Johnny Depp is as eccentric a person as he is an actor. Known for his numerous peculiar roles, the star has done multiple questionable things throughout his life. Even his love life hasn't been free from controversies. The most controversial was the lengthy legal defamation battle with his equally problematic ex-wife Amber Heard.
Years before this lengthy publicized battle, there was another incident that gained the attention of fans, the public, and critics. Back in 1994 when the Pirates of the Caribbean star was dating supermodel Kate Moss, he completely thrashed a very pricey hotel room and blamed it on an armadillo.
As weird, eccentric, and complex as his characters are, Johnny Depp's romantic relationships have been the same. After the plethora of controversial relationships he has had, the star has managed to remain amicable relationships with most of his ex-girlfriends and wives many of whom defended him during his legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard.
One of his exes who testified was Kate Moss. This was particularly surprising since the star had been said to have a rocky relationship with the model and apparently thrashed a $1,200 hotel room after their alleged fight.
Back in 1994, the two were said to have had a noisy fight in New York's The Mark Hotel, and the authorities were called over to check the scene. When the door was opened, the police found a horrific scene before them. While the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory star sat there peacefully smoking, the room was totally thrashed with broken glass and broken table legs all over the place.
When asked how this mess was created, Johnny Depp fervently defended himself saying it was an angry armadillo who had been hiding in their closet. Ironically the said armadillo was never found and Depp was arrested and slapped with a fine of over $10,000 along with damages.
The iconic couple called it quits in 1997 but were speculated to be together for a brief period in 1998. During the said time they were alleged to be very much in love and inseparable. However, after four years of mischief and love, Depp was quick to move on while Kate Moss remained heartbroken for years to come. In an interview, the actress revealed,
"There's nobody that's ever really been able to take care of me. Johnny did for a bit. I believed what he said. Like if I said, 'What do I do?,' he'd tell me. And that's what I missed when I left.
I really lost that gauge of somebody I could trust."
This statement along with Moss testifying during Johnny Depp's defamation battle, proved that Depp had nothing but a good partner during their time together, putting an end to reports of their rocky relationship.
