LeGrand Gold, a 48-year-old Utah resident battling Stage 4 cancer, has created a bucket list called "LG's List of Living" after learning that his treatments were no longer effective. One of the items on his list was to meet his idol, Dolly Parton, which seemed like an unattainable goal. However, a call came in one morning and it was Parton herself on the other end of the line. Gold's wife captured the whole call on video and shared it on his YouTube channel. Parton expressed her gratitude to Gold for being a fan and thanked him for reaching out to her. At the end of the call, she even sang a couple of lines from her hit song "I Will Always Love You," adding Gold's name into the lyrics.
Gold was overjoyed and felt immortal after the call. Along with his wife, Gold has five children and they are still working on completing his bucket list. They are planning a fake wedding in January to give their four daughters an opportunity to have a father-daughter dance with their dad. Gold's story is a reminder of the power of dreams and the impact that music can have on people's lives.
