Christopher Nolan's film, Oppenheimer, and Greta Gerwig's Barbie have been engaged in a friendly competition ever since the Barbenheimer phenomenon at the theaters. Barbie managed to outperform Oppenheimer at the box office and received nine nominations at the 81st Golden Globe Awards. While Nolan fans may feel frustrated as Oppenheimer continuously trails behind Barbie, it still impressively managed to receive eight nominations.

Currently, the Golden Globe Awards are underway in Beverly Hills, California. Barbie has only won two awards out of its nine nominations, whereas Oppenheimer has already won four awards as of the time of writing.

Barbie leads with nine Golden Globe nominations over Oppenheimer. The film was nominated for Best Motion Picture - Musical/Comedy and Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. Margot Robbie received a Best Actress nomination, while Ryan Gosling was nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Greta Gerwig earned two nominations, one for Best Director and another for Best Screenplay. The film also received three nominations for Best Original Song.

On the other hand, Oppenheimer has also performed well with eight nominations but trails behind Barbie's nine.

The film was nominated for Best Motion Picture - Drama and Box Office Achievement. Nolan received nominations for Best Director and Screenplay, while actors Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, and Robert Downey Jr. were all nominated for different acting categories. The film also earned a nomination for Best Original Score.

Fans rallied in support of Barbie after its impressive nine nominations, with some noting that the film deserves love during awards season. However, there are critics who argue that the film is overhyped. Despite the leading nominations, it remains uncertain whether Barbie will win big due to strong competition.

Gerwig expressed her excitement over Barbie's nominations, stating that she can't wait to bring the Barbie party to the Globes. Despite the leading nominations, it appears that Oppenheimer finally got a break and beat Barbie at the Awards.
