The filmmakers behind Suicide Squad had someone else in mind before ultimately selecting Margot Robbie to play the beloved character Harley Quinn from the DC comic book supervillain team. Joining an ensemble cast led by Will Smith and Jared Leto, Margot Robbie's portrayal of Harley Quinn received widespread acclaim and has become one of the standout characters in the DC Universe.

Interestingly, it was Emma Roberts who was initially considered for the role of Harley Quinn, but she declined the opportunity in order to star in Fox's satirical horror series, Scream Queens.

Despite not being the first choice, Robbie truly made the role her own and brought an iconic energy to the character.

Margot Robbie's portrayal of Harley Quinn spanned three films, including 2016's Suicide Squad, the 2020 spin-off Birds of Prey, and the 2021 soft reboot The Suicide Squad. However, the actress had expressed her desire to take a break from playing Harley Quinn, citing exhaustion from continuous filming.
