The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, celebrated her early 42nd birthday with a trip to the movies. Accompanied by her friend Portia De Rossi and a couple of other girlfriends, Meghan watched the feminist hit movie "Barbie" starring Margot Robbie at a Santa Barbara theater. While Meghan enjoyed the outing, her husband Prince Harry stayed back at their luxurious $14 million estate in Montecito, California. Continuing the festivities, Meghan joined her friends for a night at the posh San Ysidro Ranch hotel in Santa Barbara, where she even posed for photos and made videos with a bachelorette group celebrating at the hotel.
Although Prince Harry didn't join in the initial celebrations, he made sure to make Meghan's special day memorable. The couple was spotted having dinner at the renowned celebrity hotspot, Tre Lune in Montecito. Meghan wore a stunning black and white strapless maxi dress worth $240, while Harry opted for a pale blue button-up shirt and white pants.
On Meghan's actual birthday, which falls on Friday, the couple plans to spend the day at home with their two children, four-year-old Prince Archie and two-year-old Princess Lilibet.
Prince Harry will purposely stay behind with Meghan as he has commitments at the ISPS Sports Values Summit-Special Edition in Tokyo. He will then head to Singapore with polo player Nacho Figueras for a polo match at the Singapore Polo Club on Saturday.
While it remains uncertain if Meghan will join Harry in Asia, the couple has confirmed their attendance at the Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, Germany, in September. However, they will not be able to join King Charles and the rest of the royal family in Balmoral, Scotland, to commemorate the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's death on September 8.
Meghan's appearance at the Invictus Games could mark her comeback after maintaining a low profile since her and Harry's encounter with paparazzi in New York City in May. It was recently revealed that Meghan, who has signed with talent agency WME, secured a new Instagram handle, which signals her intention to reignite her career.
