The Oscars, also known as the Academy Awards, are highly esteemed accolades given to outstanding performers in the film industry for their exceptional work in movies throughout the year. Last year witnessed the release of numerous incredible movies, intensifying the competition for these prestigious awards. One such film was Greta Gerwig's "Barbie," in which Ryan Gosling portrayed the character of Ken. Gosling's impressive performance earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at this year's Oscars. However, the Canadian actor expressed his discontentment when his co-star and lead actress of the film, Margot Robbie, did not receive a nomination in a significant category.
Recently, the nominee list for the 96th Academy Awards was disclosed, disappointing fans of the epic fantasy comedy movie, "Barbie." Despite being the highest-grossing film of the previous year, both Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig were overlooked for nominations in the Best Actress and Best Director categories, respectively. This disappointment was further echoed by Ryan Gosling, who conveyed his frustration with his co-stars' absence from the list in a statement. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gosling stated, "I am extremely honored to be nominated by my colleagues alongside such remarkable artists in a year of so many great films.
.. But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally celebrated film. To say that I'm disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement."
Despite this setback, "Barbie" received a total of eight nominations for this year's Academy Awards. Following Gosling's statement, his wife, Eva Mendes, took to Instagram and shared a video of Lola Falana, a renowned American singer, discussing the disparity between instinct and rational thinking.
Mendes captioned the post, “Who gets this as deeply as I do? Dios mio, does my mind like to negotiate. It's exhausting!”
