The 2016 film, The Legend of Tarzan, had a decent impact on the box office when it was released. Starring Alexander Skarsgård and Margot Robbie, the movie has recently gained popularity as it started streaming on Netflix once again. It has always held a high position on streaming platforms, and this time it has become one of the most watched movies on Netflix.

Currently, both Robbie and Skarsgård are riding high on their nominations for the Golden Globes. Robbie has been nominated for Best Actress in the Comedy/Musical category for her role in the 2023 blockbuster film Barbie. Skarsgård, on the other hand, has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the Max series, Succession.

And now, their joint venture from 2016 is once again receiving love from fans after being re-released on Netflix.

The Legend of Tarzan was made available to audiences through Netflix once again in January. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, with only a 36% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie had a positive reception from audiences upon its initial release. Now, eight years later, it is receiving the same level of love from fans.

The movie was re-added to the streaming platform alongside several other films and currently holds the second spot.

The 2024 action-comedy Lift, starring Kevin Hart, is the only movie ranking higher than The Legend of Tarzan, starring Skarsgård and Robbie. Considering the nearly decade-long time frame since the movie's release, this is a notable achievement for director David Yates.

The Legend of Tarzan, starring Margot Robbie and Alexander Skarsgård, tells the story of Tarzan's return to the jungle, where he grew up, after nearly a decade living with his family in London. Robbie plays Jane, Tarzan's lover and now wife, who accompanies him on this journey. Together, they face various challenges, including a villainous diamond merchant played by Christoph Waltz, who is determined to destroy everything Tarzan holds dear.

Despite criticism for its "generic plot and sluggish pace," The Legend of Tarzan managed to earn $357 million worldwide. In addition to Skarsgård, Robbie, and Waltz, the movie also features Samuel L. Jackson and Djimon Hounsou in prominent roles. The Legend of Tarzan is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
