Ryan Reynolds gave fans a sneak peek at Deadpool 3's Dogpool while also revealing a potential release window for the highly anticipated film. Following the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike, Reynolds took to social media to promote the third installment of the franchise and showcase the unique take on Dogpool. He shared a photo of the dog dressed in superhero gear and hinted at a Summer 2024 release. Reynolds playfully suggested that Dogpool is causing nightmares for the Disney plushy merch department.
Dogpool, originally known as Mascara X in the comics, is a member of the Deadpool Corps and shares many characteristics with Deadpool himself, including a regenerative healing factor and a tendency to break the fourth wall.
The addition of Dogpool is expected to bring an extra dose of humor to the superhero franchise.
The release window announcement comes as a surprise, considering the production delays caused by the SAG-AFTRA strikes. Deadpool 3 was initially set to resume filming in January 2024 and was halfway through production at that point. Although the scheduled May 2024 premiere might be missed, Reynolds' updated release window suggests that the film will still hit theaters in the summer of 2024, although an exact date has yet to be announced.
Deadpool 3 marks the character's integration into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirming its connection.
However, it remains unclear if the entire film will unfold within the MCU's narrative. What is certain is that Deadpool 3 will maintain the R-rating tradition of its predecessors, ensuring plenty of intense violence and colorful language.
