Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, shared a picture of herself defying gravity on a broomstick and described the film as the grandest gift she could ask for.

Jonathan Bailey, who portrays Fiyero, simply captioned a photo of himself in costume with the words, "Danced on through." Director Jon M. Chu thanked the cast and crew for their support and praised the ambitious production. The film is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz and explores the journey of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda from roommates to friends to enemies.
