Barbie and Oppenheimer have emerged as the top contenders in this year's award season. Following their impressive performances at the box office, both films have received multiple nominations, although Oppenheimer, starring Cillian Murphy, has had more success in terms of winning accolades. Oppenheimer has not only outperformed other films but has also overshadowed them at the Golden Globe Awards.

However, on the Letterboxd platform, Barbie, directed by Christopher Nolan, has managed to surpass Oppenheimer in popularity.

Barbie has now become the most popular film on Letterboxd, surpassing even the critically acclaimed and Oscar-winning Parasite. With an extraordinary and unexpected run at the box office, Barbie has become Warner Bros.'s highest-grossing film, as well as the highest-grossing film of 2023.
