However, on the Letterboxd platform, Barbie, directed by Christopher Nolan, has managed to surpass Oppenheimer in popularity.

Barbie has now become the most popular film on Letterboxd, surpassing even the critically acclaimed and Oscar-winning Parasite.

With an extraordinary and unexpected run at the box office, Barbie has become Warner Bros.'s highest-grossing film, as well as the highest-grossing film of 2023. Despite receiving the most nominations at the Golden Globes, Barbie lost to Oppenheimer in every major category.

However, Barbie has achieved a rare feat by leaving Oppenheimer behind on the social media platform, Letterboxd. In a recent announcement, the official Letterboxd handle revealed that Barbie has officially become the most popular film on the platform.

This is a significant victory for Barbie, which has been nominated for numerous awards but has not been able to win as much as Oppenheimer.

Although Barbie may have surpassed Parasite on Letterboxd, it still has fewer likes than the South Korean film. Barbie has been watched by 2,810,484 members on the platform and has received a total of 1,219,746 likes, while Parasite has been watched by 3,361,247 members and has received 1,949,022 likes. Oppenheimer, on the other hand, has been watched by 1,921,002 members and has received only 773,712 likes.

In other categories on Letterboxd, Oppenheimer has performed better overall.

For example, in the highest-rated film category, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse ranked first, while Oppenheimer secured the third spot. Barbie did not make it to the top ten list. Similarly, in the highest-rated North American film category, Oppenheimer ranked second, Barbie ranked tenth, and in the most popular film of 2023 category, Barbie claimed the top spot, while Oppenheimer landed in second place.
